Pally Dhillon was born in Kijabe on January 1, 1944. His grandfather, Kehar
Singh Dhillon, migrated from Punjab in the early part of the twentieth century when
the British Colonialists were recruiting Indians to work on the Railway
Construction Project. The early part of Kijabe is factual and relates the life
of the author’s grandfather. His parents were both born in Kenya. Pally Dhillon
went to school in Nairobi, Kenya, and then moved to London, England, to attend
college. He joined the computer industry in England in the early 1960s and
established a reputation as a highly respected data processing professional. He
has traveled extensively in Kenya, United Kingdom, Europe, Canada, Iran, and
the U.S. on assignments.
His interests are reading and sports. He has been involved in field hockey all his life and has been active in USA field hockey on the west coast as a player, coach, and organizer. He has traveled all over the world to watch Olympics, World Cups, and other sporting events. He organized the medal ceremonies and announcements for hockey at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. He plays golf on a regular basis. Pally has two daughters, Salena and husband Dan Zanotti are Medical Doctors in Hershey, Pa and Asha is an Attorney in Los Angeles.
This is Dhillon’s first book, and he is now at work on a
second book about Indian pioneers in Britain.
